A hoverboard rider is being hunted by police after a shopliftfter was caught on CCTV stealing a crate of Lucozade.

Metropolitan Police issued footage of a man apparently stealing a crate of the fizzy energy drink from a Co-op supermarket in Mitcham, London.

The man entered the store at 9.43pm on 6 September and took a crate of Lucozade from the drinks aisle before leaving the shop without making payment.

He is described as black and was seen wearing a grey tracksuit top and bottoms.

Recent safety fears have resulted in trading standards officers impounding almost 90 per cent of the 17,000 Hoverboards they examined at UK borders since 15 October.

The scooters could blow up while charging due to issues with the plug and battery, firefighters have warned.
