Man admits kidnap of girl, 10

A man today pleaded guilty to the kidnap and sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl who was snatched as she played out in the street.

Kevin Holmes, 28, from Crosby, Liverpool, also admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm against the girl, who was attacked after she visited a sweet shop in Fleetwood, Lancashire, on May 9.

The defendant denies raping the schoolgirl.

Family members of the victim packed the public gallery at Preston Court as Holmes, of Coney Crescent, entered his pleas in the brief hearing.

A trial date on the outstanding allegation was set for December 6.

Holmes was remanded in custody.
