Man held after girl dies in crash
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a four-year-old girl died and seven people were injured in a five-vehicle pile-up yesterday.
The girl, from Birmingham, was travelling with her family on the M6 by junction 4a at Coleshill at 12.30am when four cars and a lorry collided.
Two girls in the same car as the four-year-old were also hurt, one seriously, and a woman who was with them suffered head injuries. Four people in the other cars were injured.
Police said a 63-year-old man, from Sunderland, had been arrested.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Despite the best efforts, nothing could be done to save the girl."
