Man questioned over murder after woman, 60, dies from stab wounds in Stockport

A 29-year-old man is under arrest after a woman was found stabbed to death.

Police were called shortly before 11am today, to a house on Redwood Drive, Stockport, to a report a woman had been stabbed.

Officers attended and discovered a 60-year-old woman with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

A post-mortem is yet to take place.

Greater Manchester Police said an investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances leading up to the woman's death and inquiries are ongoing.
