Man shot on his doorstep in Berkshire

A Berkshire man was shot after he answered his front door, in what police believe was a targeted attack.

The man, who is in his thirties, heard a knock on the door of his home in Bracknell, a town in Berkshire, at around 6PM on 10 May.

He answered the door to two men, one of whom shot him. The pair then escaped.

The victim was then taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, where he is being treated for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Detective Chief Inspector Bhupinder Rai, of Thames Valley Police, said: "While this is a shocking incident for local people, at this stage we do not believe it was a random attack."

"This type of crime is extremely rare. We have extra officers on duty in the area to provide reassurance and also form part of the investigation team."

Police described the offenders as white, aged between 30 and 40, and of average height. One had brown hair and the other blonde.

A police cordon is currently in place at Swancote Green, as police investigate the crime.
