A murder probe was launched after a teenager fell from a ninth storey apartment in a city centre, police said.

James Murray, 19, from Glendowan Grove, in the Lagmore area of Belfast, was found dead outside the building in King Street just before 6am on Saturday.

A man and woman were arrested in the wake of the discovery after police deemed the incident suspicious.

And last night officers officially launched a murder inquiry.

The 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman remain in custody and police applied to the courts to extend their detention.

Meanwhile, two men were arrested after a man's body was discovered in a house in Co Tyrone.

The dead man, who was aged 29, was found at a property in the Tullywiggan area of Cookstown shortly after 11am yesterday.

One of the men was later charged with the possession, preparation and supply of heroin.

The 29-year-old accused will appear in court in Dungannon this morning while the second man - a 23-year-old - was released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police released no other details about the circumstances of the death or the identity of the deceased.
