Newham stabbings: Man stabbed to death and three others injured in east London pub brawl
Edward Stokes, 29, was critically injured in the fight and died in hospital this morning
A man was stabbed to death and three others were injured during a pub brawl in east London.
Edward Stokes, 29, was critically injured in the fight and died in hospital this morning. His relatives have been informed of his death.
The other men, aged 18, 29 and 37, were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
The 18-year-old was later discharged from hospital while the other males are still being treated for their injuries, which are not believed to be serious.
Ten people have been arrested in connection with the fight and a murder investigation has been launched by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons of the Homicide and Major Crime Command who is leading the investigation said: "We are keen to hear from any witnesses who were inside and outside the pub around the time this incident occurred.
"Although ten people have been arrested and are currently being questioned, it is believed that two men involved in the attack fled the scene prior to the arrival of the emergency services being alerted and we are keen to trace them."
"Whilst we are aware that a fight broke out prior to these four males being injured, what instigated the fight resulting in the death of Edward is unclear at this stage and we are retaining an open mind."
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 020 8345 1570 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
