A former NHS employee was arrested today by police investigating claims that journalists bribed police officers and public officials.

The 31-year-old man was arrested at his home in Uxbridge, west London, at about 6am, Scotland Yard said. He was held on suspicion of conspiracy to cause misconduct in a public office and suspicion of corruption.

The man was the 36th person to be held as part of Operation Elvedon, Scotland Yard's investigation into allegations of inappropriate payments to police, being supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
