Detectives are hunting a gang of three masked men who attacked a pensioner after forcing their way into his home armed with metal bars and baseball bats.

West Midlands Police said a large quantity of cash was taken from the home of the 86-year-old victim, who suffered a dislocated shoulder during the assault in Aston, Birmingham, on Wednesday night.

Det Sgt Neal Hudson, who is investigating the offence in Ettington Road, said: "This was a particularly nasty attack on a vulnerable member of the community.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard suspicious activity in the area between 9 and 9.30pm."

Anyone with information is urged to contact West Midlands Police Force CID on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
