Police hunt for two hit-and-run drivers

Police were scanning CCTV footage today to identify two drivers involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash.

Stephen Wood, 39, died in the early hours of yesterday after being hit by three cars near Ilkley in West Yorkshire.

Two of the vehicles failed to stop at the scene, on the A65 Skipton Road between Ilkley and Addingham, West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers believe Mr Wood was drinking at the Vaults pub in Ilkley on Saturday night, and it is possible he left and headed out along the Skipton Road.

A force spokesman said: "We are urging the drivers of both of the cars that didn't stop after colliding with Stephen to contact us.

"I would also ask anyone who has suspicions about a friend or relative being involved to let us know. We are currently examining CCTV in the area with a view to identifying the drivers involved."
