Police likely to discipline Paddick over allegations

Brian Paddick, the controversial Scotland Yard Commander, looks likely to face disciplinary action after his police authority declined yesterday to dismiss allegations of wrongdoing against him.

Mr Paddick, who introduced a more liberal policy on cannabis use in the borough of Lambeth, south London, has been asked to respond to the allegation that he failed to tell his superiors that he was living with a partner who was on bail facing criminal charges.

If found guilty of flouting police rules by the Metropolitan Police Authority, he is only expected to receive a minor punishment. The senior officer has already been told that he will not face any criminal charges in connection to allegations that he smoked cannabis in his home.
