Three people have been charged with murdering a father-of-three whose body was found at a landfill site, detectives said today.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police confirmed that two women, aged 21 and 27, and a 30-year-old man would appear before magistrates in Telford, Shropshire, this afternoon charged with killing Stephen Round.

All three were detained by police last Saturday, a day after Mr Round's body was discovered at a recycling centre in Grange Lange, Redhill, Telford.

A post-mortem examination carried out by a Home Office pathologist found that Mr Round, who lived alone in the St Georges area of Telford, died of head and neck injuries.

Speaking about the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Williamson said: "I'd like to thank all those people that have come forward with information about Mr Round's death.

"I'd also like to thank local people for their understanding and patience as police officers have gone about their investigative work in St Georges over the past few days."
