A lodger wanted in connection with the killing of his landlady and her mother has been arrested in the UK.

Police launched a Europe-wide hunt for Barry Morrow, 51, after Angela Holgate, 54, and Alice Huyton, 75, were found strangled at Ms Holgate's home near Southport on Saturday.

Mr Morrow was reportedly spotted in Calais driving Ms Holgate's car that evening, and members of his family suggested he may have travelled to Spain.

On Wednesday, a firm of solicitors in Burnley, Lancashire, confirmed that they had been contacted by Mr Morrow and instructed to act for him.

Merseyside Police said officers were no longer looking for Mr Morrow.
