Wilham Mendes murder: 15-year-olds charged with stabbing Portugese boxer to death in London

Two 15-year-old boys have been charged with the murder of a 25-year-old amateur boxer who was stabbed to death in north London.

Portuguese national Wilham Mendes was found with multiple stab wounds at Albert Place in Tottenham at about 1.20am on Saturday.

Tottenham resident Mr Mendes, who had lived in the UK since 2015, was taken to an east London hospital but was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Two 15-year-old boys, who cannot be named because of their age, were charged on December 24 with his murder.

The boys, who are also charged with the robbery of Mr Mendes, will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday December 26.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called on Saturday, 22 December at around 01:20 hours by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to a report of a stabbing in Albert Place, N17.

“Officers attended along with the LAS and found a man suffering from multiple stab injuries.

“He was taken by London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital where he was pronounced dead at 02:13hrs.

“Two 15-year-old males were arrested on 23 December.
