Woman, 98, suffers sexual assault

A pensioner was sexually assaulted on New Year's Day, police have said.

Officers from Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information about the attack on the 98-year-old woman in Bristol.

The incident happened in East Street, Bedminster, at around 10.30am.

A police spokesman said: "A 98-year-old woman was walking on Philips Street when she became aware of a person behind her. She was then subjected to a sexual assault.

"The offender is described as a white man aged about 60 years old with short grey hair and a round face which was clean shaven.

"He was wearing a fawn colour rain mac. He was last seen turning into Philips Street."
