Two female prison support workers have been suspended over allegations of "inappropriate relationships" at the jail where they work, the Prison Service confirmed today.

The pair, an officer support grade worker and an administrator, are alleged to have engaged in sexual conduct with the prisoners in their cells at Camp Hill, part of HMP Isle of Wight.

A Prison Service spokesman said the allegations were subject to a police investigation.

He added: "Two members of support staff from HMP Isle of Wight have been suspended pending the outcome of a police investigation."
