Dog that killed boy is destroyed

The dog which savaged to death a seven-year-old boy in Middlesborough, Cleveland, has been destroyed, police said last night.

It was also revealed that a vet had identified the dog - initially described as a cross-mastiff - as 'a pit bull terrier type with some . . . bull mastiff qualities'. Dean Parker suffered fatal head and neck injuries when he was attacked on Sunday.
