Drunk driver jailed for death
A drunk driver who killed a pedestrian in a New Year's Eve crash was jailed for three years for causing death by dangerous driving yesterday.
Matthew Rider, 21, a salesman, from Tilbury, Essex, who had no insurance was also banned for five years and ordered to retake his test. Snaresbrook Crown Court was told Rider did not stop when he hit Shaun Wren, 20, and only went to police at his father's insistence. He said he believed he had run over a fox.
