Fugitive detective found dead
A DETECTIVE who went on the run while charged with the murder of a pregnant woman has been found dead in his fume-filled car in isolated woodland.
Detective Constable Vincent Hand, 31, failed to answer bail at Bradford magistrates' court in West Yorkshire last Friday and vanished, leaving a note for the coroner and another detailing arrangements for his funeral.
The detective had been due to make his 12th appearance before the court over the murder of 32-year-old Angela Jenkinson, his former lover, who was found strangled on waste ground 100 yards from her home in Bradford on Good Friday this year.
Det Con Hand was found in his car in isolated woods near the village of Melton Constable, outside Norwich. Norfolk Police said: 'We are not treating his death as suspicious.'
The coroner will conduct an inquiry.
