Gems deception
A computer salesman who tricked Sotheby's out of jewellery worth nearly pounds 114,000 was jailed for two years at Southwark Crown Court. Posing as a buyer for a merchant bank, William Evans, 33, of Blackheath, south-east London, obtained the gems on the strength of forged documents and a stolen cheque.
