A seven-month-old baby is to undergo Britain's first genetic transplant operation. Carly Todd, from Lennoxtown, near Glasgow, has a gene deficiency which inhibits her immune system and will have a missing gene implanted into her bone marrow at Great Ormond Street hospital, London.
