Hit and run at road check
A policewoman's skull was fractured in a hit-and-run incident in Sheffield. Paula Mullins, 27, was injured at a roadside check set up after complaints of joyriders. She was in a serious condition.
Det Ch Supt Mick Burdis of South Yorkshire Police said it was a worrying trend that to avoid being stopped, 'some drivers will use a car as a weapon'. Police were interviewing two men.
