Someone in the UK has won the £34m jackpot in Friday's EuroMillions lottery draw.

They are the eighth person from Britain to claim the top prize so far this year.

Earlier this month, three players from the UK shared a EuroMillions jackpot, Camelot said.

And that came after mother from south Wales, who decided to buy a ticket while recovering from an operation on a tumour, found herself the winner of £61.1m in August.

Sonia Davies said at the time: "I had my surgery on the Wednesday and I suppose the Friday was the first day I felt 'I am cured', I felt good, it didn't hurt any more.

"Keith [her partner] was scanning his emails and read about the EuroMillions rollover. He was convinced that we were the luckiest people on the planet and definitely on a winning streak after the success of my op so we called up my daughter, Courtney, to ask her to go and buy a ticket."

Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at the National Lottery, said: "This year has been incredible for UK players of EuroMillions."

The winning main EuroMillions numbers in Friday's draw were 05, 08, 14, 22, 32.
