THE LARGEST British house sale for a decade ended with the contents of Stokesay Court, Shropshire, raising pounds 4.1m. The auctioneers, Sotheby's, had predicted pounds 2.5m. Many of the 5,000 Victorian paintings, furniture and rare objects were stored in attics.
