Whoever thought their divorce settlement would mark the end of the vitriolic exchanges between Heather Mills and Sir Paul McCartney was proved wrong yesterday when the former glamour model launched an astonishing attack on her ex-husband.

On a live interview from the US, Ms Mills accused the former Beatle of having already amassed a coterie of lovers. "I think he's got three different girlfriends, so I wish all the girls the best of luck," she said. With a smile, the 40-year-old added: "Better them than me."

Sir Paul has been photographed with three women since splitting from Ms Mills: the US heiress Nancy Shevell, the actress Rosanna Arquette, and the former Olympic horsewoman Tanya Larrigan.

The interview with GMTV in Las Vegas was her first since winning a £24.3m divorce settlement after a lengthy legal battle which was surrounded by intense media speculation from the start.

When asked about one of the most colourful moments of the epic clash, when Ms Mills poured a jug of water over Sir Paul's lawyer, Fiona Shackleton, she bragged: "I cleansed and baptised her."

Ms Mills said she "never regretted" representing herself, and will continue her legal battle over the release of the full transcripts from the High Court divorce hearing. She said she was engaged in lengthy disputes with her ex-husband to release them so she can "clear her name".

Ms Mills also said she had three libel cases against newspapers to fight. "We'll get there in the end, the truth always outs in the end," she added. She was in America to help judge the Miss USA contest.
