Pair may have boarded a train to London, police say

Police are appealing for the public’s help in finding a young boy and girl who went missing from a care home on Saturday.

Kieran Sampson, 12, and Amy Dilworth, 15, vanished from their Berkshire residence and are thought to have boarded a train to London after being captured on CCTV on Saturday evening.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said it was not known whether the children had any money with them when they ran away from the home in Burghfield Common, near Newbury, and added: “We are appealing for the public’s help in tracing a boy and girl who are both missing from Burghfield Common.

“Amy Dilworth, aged 15, and Kieran Sampson, aged 12, were last seen at 9.20pm [on Saturday] at Mortimer railway station.

“It is believed Amy and Kieran, who are believed to be together, may have boarded a train travelling to London.”

Police described Amy as white, 5ft 10ins tall, with short brown hair and was last seen wearing a grey hooded top, a red and blue checked shirt and navy chinos.

Kieran is white, 5ft tall, with blond hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a grey jacket with the word London in red lettering on it.

Inspector Steve Warren, from Newbury police station, said he was concerned for the pair because of their age and said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who has seen Amy or Kieran – or anyone matching their description – to speak to police.

“They are both young people who have been missing overnight and we are concerned for them.

“Amy and Kieran: if you see this appeal, please contact the police so that we can ensure you are safe.”
