Police calm Belfast disturbances

Up to 30 youths were involved in disturbances in north Belfast overnight in which stones and other missiles were thrown at houses and cars.

The trouble broke out at around 2am in the Manor Drive, Oldpark Road, and Rosapenna Street areas of the city.

Police described the incident as a series of small disturbances and restored calm to the area at around 3.30am after liaising with community representatives

Windows were broken and vehicles damaged during the trouble but nobody was injured.

No arrests have been made.

Rioting broke out in north Belfast over the 12 July celebrations, with a number of police officers injured.
