Thousands of commuters suffered a second day of travel chaos today because of signal problems on one of the country's busiest rail routes.

South West Trains services between London and Portsmouth were cancelled after part of the line was closed at Havant in Hampshire.

Replacement bus services were laid on and rail passengers were advised to consider other forms of transport.

SWT services between Guildford in Surrey and Aldershot in Hampshire were also disrupted because of signal problems.
