A Grenadier Guard has been shot dead while on patrol in Helmand Province.
The soldier, who has not yet been named, was in the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.
Major Ian Lawrence, spokesman for Taskforce Helmand, said: "The thoughts and prayers of all in the Task Force and Combined Force are with his family and friends at this tragic time." The soldier's death brings the number of UK troops who have been killed in the country to 410 since fighting began in 2010.
