A 45-year-old man and an 11-year-old girl have been taken to hospital following the incident
A teenage girl has died and two people are in hospital after the car they were travelling in hit a brick wall in Manchester.
The girl, who was believed to be in her early teens, was pronounced dead at the scene in Altrincham, Greater Manchester at 10:50am on Saturday morning.
A 45-year-old man and an 11-year-old girl have been taken to hospital.
Greater Manchester Police said they were called to Manchester Road, near Stamford Road, following reports a black Toyota Auris had hit a brick wall near a block of flats.
A GMP spokesman said officers arrived at the scene where they discovered a man and two children, who are believed to be in the same family, in the vehicle.
Police originally believed that two boys had run from the vehicle shortly after the collision. This was confirmed to be incorrect information and police are no longer searching for any other passengers.
An investigation into the incident is on-going and police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the collision.
Sergeant Brian Orr from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “My thoughts are with the family at this devastating time, we will be doing all that we can to support them.
“Our initial enquiries led us to believe two young boys had fled the vehicle shortly after the collision. We now know this to be incorrect information and our search for any other passengers has been stood down.
“Our focus is now to find out how this collision happened and we are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch with police.”
