Tottenham fire: Toxic air warning as 100 firefighters tackle warehouse blaze in London
Locals advised to keep windows and doors closed
Around 100 firefighters have been dispatched to tackle a warehouse fire in north London.
The London Fire Brigade said it was called to the unit on Garman Road in Tottenham at 12.10am on Thursday.
Fifteen fire engines were sent to the blaze, which had spread through the whole of the single-storey building.
Photos and footage on social media showed a large plume of black smoke streaking into the air from the inferno.
Locals were advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
Station manager Mike Cotton, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters are working hard to bring the blaze on the industrial estate under control.
“The fire is not affecting any residential properties.”
It was unclear what caused the blaze.
