Tube 'gag' put on Kiley
London Underground took out a High Court injunction on Wednesday to prevent the publication of a sensitive report on the Government's plans to privatise the Tube.
The Government accused Bob Kiley – the transport commissioner brought in by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone to run the Tube – of doctoring an engineering report which raised safety concerns about its plans for part-privatisation of the underground system by striking out comments which reflected positively on the Government's plans. The accusation was denied by Mr Kiley.
Extra security was put on the door at London Underground's headquarters yesterday to prevent Mr Kiley, who was sacked on Tuesday by Tony Blair as chairman of London Transport, entering the building.
