Footage has been shared online of violent clashes outside East London Mosque in Whitechapel.
Video has emerged showing Britain First protesters clashing with Muslim worshippers outside East London Mosque in Whitechapel.
A group of protesters gathered outside the mosque on Saturday afternoon with union flags and a large banner saying “no more mosques.”
The protest spilled onto Whitechapel Road and scuffles took place between protesters and worshippers.
The video above shows a man fly-kicking a retreating protester while police attempt to separate the groups.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called following reports of a protest outside the East London Mosque on Whitechapel Road.
“Officers attended and spoke with the group. A short time later, a counter-protest commenced.
“Two men were subsequently arrested.”
East London Mosque tweeted saying the arrests were for “provoking and attacking members of the community.”
Britain First claimed on its website that it “held a peaceful, silent protest outside the notorious East London Mosque.”
“Within 20 minutes, around 150 aggressive Muslims assembled who promptly attacked our activists, stealing expensive camera equipment, and inflicting violence on our activists.”
