Jason Mitchell, 24, was charged last night with murdering three elderly people in a quiet Suffolk hamlet.

Mitchell, of no fixed address, will appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court today.

He is charged with murdering his father, Robert Mitchell, 55, of Acton Road, Bramford, Suffolk, whose mutilated torso was discovered by police on Tuesday evening.

Mitchell is also charged with the murders of pensioners Arthur and Shirley Wilson, of The Street, Bramford. The couple were found strangled in their bungalow on 14 December.

A post-mortem examination on Mr Mitchell, a father-of-five who lived alone after his wife left him 23 years ago, showed he had been strangled before being dismembered. Neighbours said he was a quiet man. Detectives found the body when they called at his semi-detached house.

The Wilsons lived next to the Methodist church where they both worshipped and Mrs Wilson played the organ.
