Mother killed baby

A woman who suffocated her new-born baby and kept the body hidden for five weeks before dumping it in a ditch was given three years' probation at Liverpool Crown Court. Mr Justice McCulloch said Emma Larkin, 23, a civil servant, of St Annes, Lancashire, 'plainly suffered both physically and psychologically at a time of great loneliness and stress'.
