Pensioner, 80, beaten to death

Detectives launched a murder hunt yesterday after the badly beaten body of an elderly man was discovered in an old people's bungalow.

Police said the victim, Percy Noble, 80, of Sleights, North Yorkshire, had been subjected to 'a vicious assault'.

A team of about 30 police officers began making house-to- house inquiries yesterday.

Police have not confirmed whether property was stolen in the attack.
