Ed Miliband will today accuse David Cameron of a "grand deception" against voters because of his intention to make huge spending cuts after the election.

Mr Miliband will claim that a Tory government would lead to "hard times" rather than the "good life" promised by the prime minister.

Discussion about the economy will take centre stage today as the respected Institute for Fiscal Studies think-tank publishes its analysis of the parties’ tax and spending plans.
