George MacDonald, an SNP member, arguing with a Labour supporter after trying to flourish a placard saying 'Winnie Rules Here OK' - a reference to Winnie Ewing, the SNP Euro MP for the Highlands and Islands - as John Smith arrived at Labour's Scottish conference in Inverness. Mr MacDonald, 84, a former Navy boxer, lost his clip-on tie in the scuffle, but said afterwards: 'I'm not frightened of any Labour man. I punched him several times and could have beaten him.'
