The Government launched a video for schools yesterday that describes Tony Blair as "The Guv'nor" and the intense Home Office minister John Denham as "The Main Man for Children".

Made by the Government's Children and Young People's Unit, the film Colour Blind, What it Means to be British in the 21st century, will be shown in classrooms and youth clubs across Britain and aims to overcome religious and cultural intolerance, using Radio One's DJ Spoony to freshen the image of ministers.

"Here's John Denham," announces Spoony. "The Government's main man for children!" Mr Denham then tells the film's producers: "If young people find ways of meeting together, working together and enjoying themselves and tackling problems together then they will grow up in towns and cities together so that's why it is so important."

But then the big daddy appears. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Tony Blair, the Guv'nor!" announces Spoony before the premier's address in which he says: "I am proud to be British and proud that the country that I live in is such a vibrant mix of peoples and cultures."
