TAX RELIEF: pounds 700m would be saved if the Chancellor's Budget limited mortgage interest tax relief to 25 per cent of base rates rather than mortgage interest rates, Stephen Dorrell, Treasury minister, told Charles Hendry (Con., High Peak).
