POLLUTION PROTESTS: Seventy-five thousand letters have been received by HM Inspectorate of Pollution over new discharge licences being sought for Sellafield, David Maclean, Minister of State for the Environment, told Simon Hughes (Lib Dem, Southwark and Bermondsey). More than 50,000 are estimated to object to the proposal.

JOBS TOLL: On average 371,600 people a month have registered as unemployed since November 1990, Patrick McLoughlin, Minister of State for Employment, told Frank Dobson (Lab, Holborn and St Pancras). They were offset by 321,600 leaving unemployment.
