Transport: 'Next stop Westminster, eh?!' Boris Johnson turns Tube announcer
Londoners can be a miserable lot. While the rest of the country flocks to watch the torch relay and gets ready for the Olympics on TV, they're moaning about ZiL lanes, anti-aircraft missiles, packed trains and tourists. And now there's something new to drone on about.
London Mayor Boris Johnson has recorded some announcements to warn travellers to plan their Tube journeys ahead of the Games. I heard my first yesterday, while waiting outside Victoria station (in the rain) for platform overcrowding to ease. The groan from the queuing passengers was palpable. Please, Boris, give us a break. We want to enjoy the Games, but you're ruining it for us.
