Prince and the Church
THE Prince of Wales wants to end the monarch's 450-year-old role as head of the Church of England and believes the Church should be disestablished because Britain is now a multi-faith society, according to a report in the Sunday Times.
'I happen to believe that the Catholic subjects of the sovereign are as important (as Protestants), not to mention the Islamic, Hindu and Zoroastrian,' he is quoted as saying in the ITV interview to be broadcast this week.
Although he did not specifically mention disestablishing the Church in the interview, the paper said it was clear from comments made to friends that that is what he favours.
