Rise in NHS managers attacked
THE NHS in Wales has 67 more managers than last autumn, despite the assault last November by John Redwood, Secretary of State for Wales, on the growth in 'grey suits', writes Nicholas Timmins.
Figures revealed in a parliamentary answer by Gwilym Jones, a Welsh Office minister, show that by March the number of managers had risen another 67 to 1,095. Alan Milburn, Labour MP for Darlington who asked the question, said the 6.5 per cent increase would embarrass the minister.
