The dismissal of a 22-stone sewer worker who was too fat to fit through a manhole was not unfair, an industrial tribunal in Woburn, Bedfordshire, decided. The tribunal was told that Thames Water gave Gary Cannon, 38, of north London, a year to lose weight, but he failed do so. The company had been extremely long-suffering.
