Linda Pastan lives in Potomac, Maryland with her husband and three children. She has received fellowships from the US National Endowment for the Arts and from the Maryland Arts Council. She has won the Dylan Thomas Award, the Di Castagnola Award, the Bess Hokin Prize of 'Poetry' magazine and the Maurice English Award. Her past collections include PM/AM: New and Selected Poems (WW Norton, 1982) and The Imperfect Paradise (WW Norton, 1988). This poem appears in Heroes in Disguise published by WW Norton & Co at pounds 6.50.
