Adrienne Rich, the American writer and poet has received many honours for her work. Most recently, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for poetry for An Atlas of the Difficult World, a fellowship from the Academy of American Poets for distinguished poetic achievement and the Poetry Society of America's Frost Silver Medal for 1992 (co-winner). This poem is from Time's Power: Poems 1985-1988 (WW Norton, pounds 6.95).
Adrienne Rich will be reading from her new book What is Found There: Notebooks on Poetry and Politics today, at the ICA, London, from 1-2pm (071 930 0493) and tomorrow at James Thin, Edinburgh (031 556 6743).
