Deborah Randall was born in Hampshire in 1957, and now lives in Ullapool in Scotland. Her first collection, The Sin Eater (Bloodaxe, 1989), was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation, and won a Scottish Arts Council Book Award. This poem is from White Eyes, Dark Ages (Bloodaxe, 1993). Tomorrow night, Deborah Randall will be reading with Selima Hill in the Voice Box, South Bank Centre at 7.30pm.
