The North Kent Marshes designated as Environmentally Sensitive Area
The North Kent Marshes, seen from the Isle of Harty on the Isle of Sheppey, one of six wildlife habitats now designated an Environmentally Sensitive Area by the Ministry of Agriculture. The ministry is to pay farmers for maintaining the character of the locations. The others are the Lake District, Exmoor, the South Wessex Downs, the south-west Peak District and the Avon Valley.
