Windsor gatecrasher's stage show fails to amuse

The antics as a "terrorist" of Aaron Barschak, who gatecrashed Prince William's 21st birthday party at Windsor Castle, were laughable. As a comedian they were not.

Despite generating more publicity than any other performer at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the debut appearance of the "comedy terrorist" well and truly bombed yesterday.

There was an audience of only 34 in the Smirnoff Underbelly theatre, almost half of whom were from the media. Dressed in an orange boiler suit over his now trademark pink ballgown, pubic wig and beard extension, Barschak failed to raise more than a couple of laughs. As he bumbled his way through almost half an hour of satirical sketches it was evident that his talent did not live up to the publicity.

Only when he described his uninvited appearance at Windsor Castle in the last 30 minutes of the show did he manage to hold the attention of the audience.

"I won't be telling anybody else to come to this," said John Boland, from Ireland. "I was expecting a good laugh listening to him rant and rave about royal security but he didn't."
